Young Sleep | 3 Ways to Help Your Kid Sleep
Children are the future of our generation, which means that their nourishment is one of the most important aspects of a parent’s life. With problems like social life and school always on their fingertips, one thing most parents don’t anticipate is how much sleep their child is getting.
You might just tuck your kid in bed and kiss him to sleep, but surprisingly, about 70% of kids under the age of 10 have sleep issues, while more than 80% of teens don’t get their recommended amount of sleep. How is this bad? You need to realize how important sleep is. Without proper sleep, you can basically, triple the intensity of every other problem. You catch diseases much faster; you face depression problems; your temper is shortened and you stay grumpy at most times.
Luckily, there are ways in which all of this can be prevented. Yes, a solution. I’m going to tell you 3 different ways to let your kid get better sleep.
• Put away the ‘Electronics’
This does not mean that you should stop using them entirely, but for sleep it is very important to say goodbye to such items a few hours before you go to sleep. It is hard to cut down that screen time, but it is a must if you want to get better sleep. Even an hour of playing video games or watching T.V before sleep can increasingly disrupt your sleep. Ensure that you do such task a few hours before bed time. Even better, you can rid your bedroom of any kind of electronics and make it specifically for sleep. That will really help when you want to go to sleep.
• Develop a Routine
This is one of the most effective ways resulting in a better sleep. Make sure that you sleep at a set time at night and then wake up also at the specific time you have set in the morning. Never change this timing as a varying schedule can cause you to experience intense sleep problems. Try and experiment to find the best routine which fits your everyday schedule as well. Believe me, with a routine sleep, you can easily sleep and wake up automatically, at the same time every day. You won’t even need an alarm clock!
• Eat before Sleep
What you eat before you go to bed is one of the most important aspects which decide how you will sleep. How? Let me explain. Some people think that having a small snack would be great before sleeping, it is not the best way to go. Especially if you eat fruits. Rather, you should eat a full meal, but eat it a few hours before bedtime. The best meals contain a combo of carbohydrates with tryptophan-containing foods. These help calm your brain and regulate your heartbeat. Moreover, a banana is a great way to go, if you want the perfect sleep. Be sure to add that to your menu!
